WEEK 6 Writing Assignment Interview a friend or family member or even someone you don’t know that well (preferably not someone in journalism) for a one page feature story. After getting an overview of the person’s life, you will need to hone in on some aspect of the person to create focus in your story. Before turning in the story, have the subject read the story and correct errors of fact and context. Check your notes again to try to determine how you made the errors. Ask the subject whether he or she agrees with your focus. If possible, your subject should also evaluate the quality of your questions and how well you established rapport. Here are a few tips to help you with this assignment. A. Remember that a feature story is not hard news; so you have more room for flexibility on how you tell the story. B. You can use a creative lead. You can use a good quote or something witty as your lead. C. Write in single space for this article using short paragraphs. D. Write an eye-catching headline to draw the reader in. E. Remember not to tell the person’s life story. Focus on one interesting aspect of their life. F.
